thanks, but I was referring to the configurator on Lenovos website.
Deleting the T40P and 15" LV could be an indicator of change i.e new stuff coming or supply chain problems.

The websites seem to be having all sorts of problems... There are systems you can order on the website, but if you call the order in (same configuration), the sales reps can't process them. I have been having these problems for a while....

The top of the T60 page still says that it's available in 15" so hopefully it still is, and it's just a website problem. I was hoping to buy one at the end of this month...

Thats the 15.4 wside screen you see. They are selling these heavily and in the retail stores.
Whats missing is the 15" FV - flex view at SXGA+

I called Lenovo to do a price match and asked about the standard aspect ratio T60s... they said they are discontinuing them =[...

that is truly a shame if they are therefore no longer offering IPS panels (as it looks unlikely to emerge in a widescreen variant); so laptop display choice will now officially be between dull, crappy matte screens and hyper-saturated, mirror-reflective Mickey mouse glossy screens; fantastic........

Frankly, I'd be very tempted to pull the trigger on a 14.1 Wide screen SXGA+ Flex View and obviously standard 14.1 FV.
I am really curious as to why they discontinued 15 " FV "if" true? Low demand? Supply chain problems, Quality problems?
Whats next.
I may have one of the last few 15" FV's on order.
Intending to obtain T60p, 15.0" UXGA

I'm working to obtain a T60p, 15.0" UXGA. Problem is, the used ones sell very fast, and yesterday when I called IBM, they told me that they aren't making the 15.0" display with UXGA anymore so that they can compete with other manufacturer's widescreens. They still have 15.0" SVGA, but the UXGA (1600 x 1200) is what I want. They said if I want UXGA, I'll have to order a 15.4" WUXGA, which I don't really want.
Anybody know how I can order / obtain a T60p, 15.0" UXGA?
Thanks in advance,

A quick search of ebay shows nine systems and two bare UXGA panels.
Correct...however...

I don't see any UXGA or WUXGA screens in any ThinkPad configuration on the Lenovo website.
I just bought a Z61p WUXGA model 4 weeks ago, but it disappeared from the website a week later.
i've got a UXGA A21p and a UXGA R50p and I've found uses at work for the 1600 x 1200. The 1920 x 1200 is even better for me. I don't like seeing these models disappear. The R50p is IPS and the Z61p is not, but both screens satisfy me.

Interesting, I always thought that the A21p only had SXGA+. It's amazing that 16MB of video memory is enough to drive 1600x1200.

Yes, I also have an A21p, with 1600 x 1200 resolution, which is why i want the T60p with 1600 x 1200, which i thought was designated by the "UXGA". Please correct me if I'm wrong on this. Also, what is meant by "Flex View" display?
Many thanks for all of your responses.

So now the Z61p's are not listed. I was just coming around to looking at that. ie the 14" version.
Maybe I should treat the T60 15" FV I have on order as an investment and never open it

The A21P came with a 15" UXGA display, however it wasn't a Flexview display. First Thinkpad with a 15" UXGA-IPS display was the A30P.

It's a marketing term referring to a display with
in-plane switching technology.
IPS displays have better color reproduction, are brighter and have a much wider viewing angle than "normal" displays.

Seems like a major step back in quality - especially since the LCD is the most expensive part in a laptop - but what choices do they have? They don't sell enough TPs to establish their own production line.
Does anyone know what really happened to IDtech?
As I see it, Chimei sold off nearly all their assets in IDtech and sold most of their manufactory plants to Sony in 2005.
But it's very quiet and no-one talks about this, like it is a secret or most don't care.

Z61P is still available from Lenovo Canada for CAN$2249 + tax.

Essential step back, I wouldn't buy another ThinkPad without FlexView display (for nearly the same price). What would I get ? The half quality for double price. I don't think they can sell more if they're going to continue with such "improvements".
BTW I commented it here

It was my understanding that the reason IPS displays were no longer available from Lenovo was because the manufacturer of IPS displays had ceased operations. If that is the case, it doesn't seem fair to take Lenovo to task for this.

It is case of UXGA panels made by BOE-Hydis but SXGA+ ones were made by LG/Philips. The situation of IDTech is still unknown.

I have just sent an email to IDTech asking about what happened. I'm sure they won't tell me a thing, but it doesn't hurt to try.

I'm selling my one week old flexview in the appropriate forum, although I'd rather not.
I honestly think that there is no other laptop screen even close in terms of color saturation and clarity.
Maybe Lenovo will come back with this option if people ask enough times????

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Here in NZ we've had issues configuring laptops with the flexview since the widescreen model reared it's fat, wide, heinous head (sorry owners). Argh. I feel like I'm falling...

There's another thing which should be taken into the account. The difference in dead pixel behaviour on TN and IPS (or xVA) panels. On TN panel a dead pixel is shinning on dark background which is very annoying while on IPS is just "off" having grey or other r/g/b color on white background.
