turn off "wireless radio status"

#1 Post by ducky2802 » Tue Mar 06, 2007 9:35 pm

Hi,

I dont know if anyone has encountered this little message. When you turn the radio switch on/off on the front left of the T60, a little message pops up on screen lets me know that I turned the radio on/off. I can see the radio status LEDs just fine, so I was wondering, is there anyway to disable this message?

BTW...Ive been going through the list of startup/service items to speed up my xp boot...Im trying to get a list of what everything does and hopefully post it up here when school slows down some!

Thanks for the help in the meantime!!!

As I also disabled a lot of startup-stuff, here's what I still let startup:
- TpShocks
- PWRMGRTR (powermanager)
- ACWLIcon (access connections in systray)
- TPHKMGR (HotKey ManaGeR)
- EzEjMnAp (Easy Eject)
- SynTPEnh (trackpoint, for example middle mouse needs this together with SynTPLpr)
- SynTPLpr

Things most people will want (but I don't use):
- AwaySch (away scheduler)
- LPMGR (thinkvantage)

As for the wireless switch, I've no idea :(
R60 - 1.83Ghz Core Duo, 15" SXGA+, ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 (128mb), 2GB RAM, 80GB
Macbook - 2.1Ghz Core 2 Duo, 13.3" WXGA, Nvidea 9400M, 4GB RAM, 120GB (7200rpm)

Thanks!

In addition to your services, I also:

disabled:
TpShocks (active HDD works without this...controls sys tray icon as far as I can tell)

Enabled:
DLA, for the Sonic recordnow
EZEJMNAP, so that I can use fn+f9 (even though I rarely do)

Now, as far as the wireless radio status is concerned, I saw on task manager that switching the hardware switch starts up a program called pmev2_1.exe. Im sure if I scan through the registry, Ill find where to shut it off!

Heh, I just started a new topic about the same "problem," deleted it when I found this one. :)

I'm running Vista Biz, but the switch does the same thing with the popup window.

The EXE you listed appears to be installed when you install the OSD package, which is what does all of the on-screen stuff for the volume indicators and other junk. I found it living in:
C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY

I just renamed it (to "pmev2_1.exe.no") and it doesn't appear now when I flip the switch. The Hotkey/OSD system is probably annoyed and is likely throwing an error every time it tries to call that program, but as long as it doesn't cause it to crash or fill up some error log, I guess I don't care...

On my machine, the file name you want to change is

c:\Program File\Lenovo\PkgMgr\HOTKEY\pmev2_1.exe
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.
