System Update 3.0 Gets to 95%, And Hangs :(

Dear everyone,
Great forum and great threads! I'm having a problem with System Update 3.0:
I did the big clean install as suggested by gt5l, I have made sure my Server service is switched on under Administrative Tools/Services/,
Essentially everything runs pretty smoothly, TVSU3.0 updates itself, and downloads the package - the problem is that it hangs while "Processing Package Information" - this is at around 95% of progress.
My system is a T41p / XPPro SP2 (latest updates downloaded) / Windows Firewall / AVG Free Edition / I'm part of a Workgroup at work; nothing else very exotic.
I know I don't really need to have TVSU3.0 working, but as a previous poster said, it's so ANNOYING to know it's there and that it's stuffed!
Anyone have any suggestions?
Cheers
Teng

I have exactly the same problem as tyger, and I've tried some of the suggestions from the other posters but no luck so far.tyger wrote:Same problem here. System Update upgraded itself seamlessly to v3 (version: 3.00.0028, build date: 2007-2-12 to be exact) and v3 won't work. Funny thing though: SysUpdate doesn't get closed after the error message, but the progress bar gets to 95% and stalls.
I removed SU from add/remove programs and reinstalled it - nothing changed.
