I have one 1GB stick installed on my thinkpad and was just wondering how many memory slots a T60 has in total, 2 ?

My T60 has 2 Memory Slots. I have a 1 gig module in each slot.

So it means in order to have 3GB, I'd need 1GB+2GB sticks?

3gb would require a 1gb stick and a 2gb stick BUT Lenovo charges $820.00!!!!! for a SINGLE 2gb Stick to Replace the Single 512mb Stick. To upgrade from 512mb to 3gb (a 1gb stick and a 2gb stick) they charge $990.00!!! The 1gb sticks are reasonably priced but the 2gb stick is insane.

I just bought 1GB of ram in a local store (for 89 euro, a lot cheaper then the 193 euro at lenovo) and it works fine.
Do you need 3GB? (if you have 2x 1GB you might have the advantage of dualchannel, although I don't know if that makes a lot of difference)

Not really sure if you need 3 gigs. I have 2 right now and dont really see no difference when I had 1 gig.

Hey buddies, I upgraded to 2GB RAM last week and haven´t been able to place my palm rest leveled as it was before the upgrade, now it has a slight slope towards the right border and the lid when closed shows a 3mm light.... any hint on how to fix this will be of great use to me....

Watch the video on Lenovo website.
But it's fairly easy but I wonder how did you put the screws back if you can see the light. But anyways, you should redo it again.
