Have to scan finger twice

#1 Post by Muse » Sun Mar 11, 2007 7:53 am

I had a problem a couple weeks ago that required booting in safe mode but I didn't reconfigure anything. Now for no apparent reason when I turn on the T60 (1953CTO) I am asked to scan my finger, which is followed by a choice of users (there's only me), followed by a request for another finger scan. Why is this happening and how can I return the machine to requiring just a single scan?

Oddly, it's not being as fussy about my scans (a much higher percentage of them pass), but scanning twice is absurd.

Are you running CSS v 7? I had the same issue a long time back - the first time you scan is for login via the fingerprint scanner - the second swipe is for Cliennt security authentication. I uninstalled CSS and all my woes (from slow booting to multiple fingerprint swipes) went away.

If you are not using CSS, uninstall it and you'll thank the heavens. CSS 6 is fantastic, and I highly recommned that version if you want to use it.
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX

Yes, it's version 7. Can I get 6? Well, for a price, I suppose. I don't need it, at least presently and I think my subscription to CSS is up in about 8 days anyway. I will uninstall it and probably thank the heavens as you say. I hear that the fingerprint software will run anyway, but do I have to reinistall it or go in and configure it differently, or will it still run after uninstalling CSS? I will be uninstalling the Symantec Firewall and AV, too. Thanks for guidance.

Yes, that's the exact same issue! Thanks!

Fingerprint reader will work independently without CSS. CSS 7 was a pain to use in more ways than one. If you don't need it, simply uninstall it and enjoy your T60. Beleive me, you will thank me for the tip.
