Yeah, so basically, this occurs occasionally when I have the sytem in StandBy then plug the laptop into AC. The FN F7 key doesnt work, nor does FN space bar, nor did the Hotfix solve this problem:

I have heard this has to do with the laptop attempting to recognize its settings prior to and after going into StandBy. is there any way to fix this [censored] issue?
Only a restart works.

Sigh. Is this problem unique? I wouldn't assume so.

I personally have not had this issue. The only issue I had that was even remotely similar was when I had the Windows XP screen saver settings to blank the screen after 10 minutes. Normally, you hit a key or move the trackpoint and the display would return, but not in my case. I would either have to repeatedly do the Fn-F7 toggle, and if that didn't work I would have to reboot as you do.
My fix was to disable the screen blanking altogether, so I no longer have that issue. There have been some recent driver and package updates for the T60, so run the System Update tool and make sure everything is up to date. Besides that, unfortunately I am not much help.

Still experiencing this. I have, in fact, two different hotfixes for this problem. They do not seem to overlap. Also, have updated the T60W bios to the most recent (1.04 I believe)

Also - does anyone know the effect of installing a hotfix when you believe it is already installed? Does this create a problem?

Does it also happen when the system is standby'd in an AC power state and then opened on batt?
Does it happen with Power Management disabled?
Does it happen with the machine at a BIOS screen?
Do you get the normal power connect/disconnect beep when AC is disconnected/connected during normal operation?
A few of these further tests might help folks here to diagnose the problem.

1) It has happened from AC standby to battery, and battery to battery (but only once or twice. much rarer actually, even though i go battery to battery standby more often)
2) Not sure how to experiment with this, the black screen is not repeatable (ie it happens randomly). id have to go without power management for awhile, but i will try it since you reccommend it.
3) Never experienced it with a BIOS screen. What do you mean by that? No bios screen flashes, nor have I had it happen AT a screen
4) I have the beep disabled. Shall I really turn it on?
