Screen won't turn on after "screen blank-out"

Sometimes, when my lcd monitor turns off because of the power saving settings in control panel, it won't switch back on when I move the mouse or press any keys. It's just pitch black! The system is alive and kicking, apart from the monitor. The monitor switches back on when the systems resumes from a forced stand by mode (by shutting the lid).
This only happens sometimes when the power settings kick in... most of the times the monitor will turn back on as expected.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I also had this problem some time ago, but it disappeared after a bios update.

It does that to me, but for me, I just zoom in using FN+space, and then zoom out again

Brings it back to life

Hey Ron, great tip! Thanks! I had configured my screen not to turn off because of this bug. I wonder why Lenovo doesn't distribute this hotfix via System Update?

Yep - the Knowlege Base article
http://support.microsoft.com/KB/917332 is exactly what I'm experiencing also. I can't install the hotfix though because of my non-English windows version.
I'll have to try perry's FN+space trick next time.
Thanks for the tips!

If you contact MS Support (see link in article) they may have the version you need.
