Hitachi Feature Tool question

#1 Post by AuroraGuy » Wed Mar 21, 2007 8:40 am

I noticed on the Hitachi feature tool - there is a setting for "Configure SATA interface" - does anyone know what thats for? - there is a huge warning stating not to change this if the motherboard doesnt support it:

Max capable drive interface speed – 1.5Gb/s or 3.0Gb/s
Spread Spectrum Clocking – Enable / Disable

..I presume for the T60 we want 1.5GB/s
I have no idea what SSC is for or should be.

Anyone?

You are playing with some sharp knives using that tool. You should set your drive in compatibility mode to change the acoustic management setting, but leave the other settings alone. See this thread:

This PDF has a warning that switch to 3.0Gb/s or enabling spread spectrum clocking can turn your little 2.5" drive into a little 2.5" brick:

Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.
