Any plans for 14" Widescreen? Santa Rosa Questions too.

About to fire the bullet into purchasing a T60 14" for my sister.

I can't help but think she would enjoy a widescreen chassis, however. I don't know how big her TV will be for college, but I think she'll watch DVDs and some TV shows streaming online via her Thinkpad. If we get a model with Vista, the sidebar will definitely be much better with the WS.

However, after my experiences with a 15" Dell Inspiron (which is admittedly much heavier and thicker than a Thinkpad) I feel that the 15" frame is simply too big for a laptop that gets some mobility. My sister is also really petite and that would add to the discomfort as well.

So, I'd like to know if a 14.1" widescreen T60 is in the works soon. Would it come out with Santa Rosa? Am I better off waiting until then (in a month or so)? Right now we're looking at a 1.83ghz C2D. She doesn't do much in terms of CPU intensive work, and this computer will definitely be major overkill for her. But thankfully, money is not too much an issue at the moment and future-proofing is a higher concern as it'll be hers for four years at least.

So to summarize:
-Is the 14" WS T60 in the works?
-If so, how long till it comes out?
-Is Santa Rosa going to be worth the wait or just get a C2D?

Thanks.

Yes, a 14" WS T60 is in the works, search around here for the thread.
Some people think fall will see a release (after Santa Rosa). SR shouldn't make too much of a difference for your sister's purposes, though the current C2Ds will certainly be less expensive after SR's release.

The 15.4" Wide T60 almost exactly as tall and thick as the 14" regular aspect ratio T60, check this link for pics:
