new T60 but cannot connect to my home wireless

#1 Post by oidsman » Wed Mar 21, 2007 5:03 pm

I have a new company T60 but I am unable to connect to my home wireless setup. It is working on my companies wireless access point but not at home. It sees my access point but wont connect , with Access Connection giving an error 010. this seems to indicate that either the WEP key is invalid or the adaptor is set not to work on these radio channels being used.

I have set the access point (a Netgear wg602 - which is getting on now) to be non-encrypted but it still won't connect.

I have set logging on and I see the following:-

Code: Select all

Ok AcSvc( SYSTEM(Prvlg).0788.5996) 21:28:21:203 AcAthMSVC6_GetWLNetWorkType:Exit

Ok ACMainGUI( sdb(Prvlg).3244.3328) 21:28:21:218 AcSvcGetWLConnectionStatus: Exit
The only dodgy line seems to be the one with the "Unknown/Unhandled Authentication Status=500".

Does anyone have any ideas? It is really frustrating. Could it be my wireless access point causing the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help! [/code]

Shared or Open key?

Make sure the "key" settings match. Typically, Shared or Open. Automatic setups usually don't ask you for this and you'll need to set it manually to match the router/gateway.

Have you created a new profile for your home wireless network in access connections?

All of your security and access point specific setting are unique by profile so a new one created then properly applied should negate your office net settings (while retaining them in a saved "Work Wireless" profile) and apply the appropriate settings for home.

Make sure that the Wireless Zero Configuration Service is disabled before you start.

Keep us posted on your status.

If you have your router's Wireless MAC filter enabled, you need to enter your Thinkpad's MAC address into the filter list.

You can get the address by opening a command prompt and typing the command ipconfig -all
