I have all the sounds disabled in BIOS
and I have the XP control panel set to NO SOUNDS/SCHEME.

if I am typing and hit some keys are the same time or some FN key maybe, the laptop BEEPS if the sound has been up.

I used to just leave the sound off, but with iTunes and stuff..now I cant.

is there any other place to shut off any sounds except for music?

I dont need to be told when I do a bad key sequence when typing an email or a web page form!

In Device Manager choose View-Show Hidden Devices from the menu, under Non-Plug and Play Devices disable Beep. Not sure if you have to reboot to make it active, but that should remove the annoying beep.

EXCELLENT!!

This worked. Yes, I had to reboot to make it effectively disabled.
I would have NEVER found this on my own.

Thanks so much !!! :D

Has anyone ever figured out the rationale behind the Beep device, and why it only activates under certain multiple-keypress scenarios?
