How to associate volume hotkeys with system sound?

#1 Post by gpvillamil » Tue Mar 27, 2007 5:32 pm

I am in the process of setting up a new T60p, and have a quick question: on my T41p, the volume keys controlled the Windows sound volume. Pressing the volume up and down keys would visibly move the volume slider.

On the T60p, this does not seem to work. (Note: volume *is* reduced - however, it is not shown in Windows). The mute key does work, when pressed the system tray icon goes to mute, and pressing the volume keys cancels it.

How can I set it up so that the volume keys raise and lower the system volume?

You need to download and install the on-screen display utility from Lenovo.

?
On the T60, the hardware keys control the master volume on the machine - meaning, the maximum of your windows volume will be what you set in hardware. There is no direct way that I know that you can associate the hardware keys to slide up/down your windows volume.
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

The buttons control the hardware volume on my T60 and I know they also controlled the hardware volume on my T43.

I wish they would use an analog thumbwheel type hardware volume control like I had on my Toshiba laptop from a few years ago. It was much more adjustable than the button/digital control on my ThinkPads.
