Can't get to BIOS config on T60p

When booting my T60p, I get the usual Lenovo splash screen. Pressing the blue Thinkvantage key starts the Rescue and Recovery console.

At this point, I get a password prompt for the Windows password. When I enter it, I get a message to the effect that a password needs to be defined for this operation, and that I haven't done so.

It's quite weird, because I have defined a Windows password, and use it to log on every day!

How to fix this?

Also, how to access the BIOS?

An alternate BIOS entry is to Press F1 during the Splash Screen.

If you have a password for the blue ThinkVantage key, you likely set a password for Rescue and Recovery or Client Security Software.

If you get a password prompt when you press the F1 key to enter the BIOS, then you have a Supervisor password (or passphrase) set in the BIOS. You need to know this password (or passphrase) to proceed.

The message I'm getting is that I require a password for that operation, and that I have not *configured* one, not that I am putting in an incorrect password. (I use the same password for all system functions.)
