Microsoft sticker

Has anyone noticed the Microsoft Windows product key sticker on the bottom of T60 has an unsual wear pattern?

It looks like someone took a sanding disk to the center of the sticker after it is applied to the T60, there is a depression worn right through the sticker and you can see the black plastic base through this opening on the sticker.

I've seen this on 3 different T60 now, and the only theory I can think of is to prevent someone from easily lift the sticker off one T60 and put it on another T60.

The plot thickens............. :?:

My Dell has the same thing.

They started scratching the area off to show that it's genuine.

On my T41p the sticker has a hole rubbed into it. It's also got some protective coating on it.

My machine is showing it's age. My COA sticker is just fine. It is a bit wrinkly from having been moved from the original base to a replacement base, but otherwise it shows no signs of wear 3 and a half years later. ... JDH
