I thought I made a Recovery Backup Disc?

The first thing I did when I got my new T60 was to create a recovery CD, or so I thought.

While reading some of the other post on “back up and recovery” I learned that it takes about 7 CD’s to make the recovery disc. So now I’m thinking I don’t have a complete back up as I only used 2 discs. It sure looked as though the process was complete, but now I'm not so sure.

Since then I have loaded several programs such as MS office, the preloaded Symantec, wireless mouse, etc; but I have not transferred any of my file yet.

How would you suggest I proceed from here……………delete what I have installed and start over, or revert to a date in the past and start from there. By the way, how do I go about reverting the HD back to a previous date?

Good question. I too am in the same boat and look forward to learning the answer as to what best to do.

Did you burn to CD's or DVD's?

I burned to a CD. It just didn't complete as it should have.
So I just finished loading what I needed to load and made a recovery disc from there.
I should be fine with this backup should something happen.

Revert HDD back to previous date:

1: go to the blue button (press once)

2: Browser window open. Click on the recovery section

And you can see all the options avaliable... I cannot explain in detail because right now, i am using the school desktop to make this post.

Just remember that there is a calender in the background asking you which are the dates you want to revert your thinkpad to.

When you make a recovery set it will be about 7 or 8 cd's or 1 cd and 1 dvd. You can only make this set once if completed successfully.
You can make a recovery disc as many times as you want. It is only the first disc in the set and is the boot disc.

Anyone else find that ridiculous?
I ripped a copy and stored it for a backup bc I know that I will never keep that disc free of scratches.

To address the op's post: There is a difference between the "rescue media" and "recovery discs"

-the rescue media is what can allow you to boot into an environment that will allow you to function and backup important data.

-the recovery discs are what allow you to place your system at a factory preloaded state.
