3GB @ 667MHZ

I am configuring a T60 with 3GB ram, which I have heard to be useful with Vista. But it seems IBM doesn't offer 2GB DIMMS at 667Mhz, only 533. Should I buy the stick somewhere else to run at full speed?

Absolutely. You don't want to slow down the machine.
