I read several postings around docking / undocking and lots of people report no problems.....I got a problem though

Undock, no problem at all my t60p comes out and works like a champ. However, if I take the machine and place it back in the docking station the laptop powers off.

I've redocked with the laptop lid open and I'm looking any my XP desktop...looks good, but as I begin to apply pressure for the docking, wink, out it goes. It is not fully docked when the power off is occuring. It is not going into hybernate, sleep, it is all the way out.

I've updated the BIOS to the posting from last week, I've also updated all the software including the updated dock utilites. Anyone seen this? Was there a rash of docking stations with bad connectors or high voltage that causes the laptop to wink out?

I have this problem too with my t60p. I've learned to get around it by being very careful with re-docking. I line everything up perfectly before I put the laptop down, and do it very quickly. However, it is sometimes a problem, and it would be great if there was a solution so the power-off never happen. Does anybody know what's causing this?

I have the exact same issue using a port replicator that started about a month ago (after having had the T60p for 6 months) then seemed to go away for a couple of weeks then just came back this week. I have not been able to determine a behavior pattern that triggers this.

If you search this forum you'll find an answer, so this thread is redundant. However, I can tell you that the problem is known by Lenovo and a fix is available. It involves static electricity buildup between the dock and the ThinkPad. The solution is a set of insulators (small non-conductive plugs) that slip over part of the docking connectors. (Really, that is the solution!)

The way i get around this is right before re docking, one hand on bottom dock connector of t60 and one hand on key (i leave the key in the dock lock) this safely discharges any static and doesn't shutdown.

Actually they are conductive caps, not "non-conductive"

I still get an occasional problem when hot-docking and hot-undocking where my keyboard stops working but generally things are much better since I got the caps. If something like that happens to you, generally going into standby and back out fixes it.
