Lag time before parts lookup updates?
Lag time before parts lookup updates?
My T60p order updated to "shipped" yesterday, with tracking information updated today. So now I have a serial number to lookup parts with. But the lookup site says the information was not found.
I'm sure I'm using the correct serial number, maybe I'm using the wrong "Type"? The order status page says the part number for the system is 8743CT, so I was using the 8743. Is there a different number I'm supposed to use? Or does it take longer for the part lookup database to update?

I only remember the format of the Type being "1234-ABC". Even though you don't need ABC part but are you sure it's 8743CT and not 8743CTO?
You can get it checked by some gentlemen on the board if you prefer, I am sure most are trust worthy.

It is correct that you need only type the four digits of your T60 in the "Type:" field (in my case "2007"), and then the seven character serial-number in the "Serial#:" in the Parts Lookup site at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... arranty.vm
I don't know when the parts-information is first available, but in my case it was at the shipping time (which was, however, from Sweden, and not from China). I would believe that the information should already be in the system at the time when the PC left Lenovo's final test, and were packaged for shipment. How could they possible retrieve it later than that?
One observation is that when you "View parts lookup results for this system", then the part numbers listed for your PC at the time of shipment (in "Mfg part #") cannot, at least not all of them, be found in the T60 Hardware and Maintenance Manual (get it at ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... 844_01.pdf); these part numbers seems to be internal Lenovo information. As an example, I was very curious about checking which type of display (which manufacturer) was in my T60, but the part in my case (41W6707) just is nowhere to find!?! The same observation has been made by others here.
So, I'm sorry to say that I think you'll just have to wait patiently to see what you get, at least for some of the parts.
Kind regards,
Johan

I literally just went through the same scenario myself. On April 1, I received an "Electronic Receipt for Invoice..." that included the serial# and indicating that it had shipped. I entered the type# and serial# in the "Parts Lookup Page" and it wasn't found (I figured it was just an April Fool's Joke). However, the next day I received a "LENOVO shipment confirmation..." and thereafter I was successful in extracting the parts list from the "Parts Lookup Page". Apparently, there is a lag (a day in my case) in updating the parts database after the initial shipping notification.
I must add I couldn't be happier with my new T60p--it even exceeds my high expectations. With all the talk and discussion on screens, manufacturers, etc, I was concerned and curious after coming from an ID-Tech UXGA Flexview. My new SXGA+ Flexview is even better (which I didn't think was possible), except that I wish it were UXGA (I would indeed have the "perfect" notebook in that case).

My 8743CTO shipped yesterday and I was able to look it up soon after..
I went here, entered 8743CTO as the type and my serial from the order status page.
If you can't find your way back there (as I couldn't) without a saved link, I was able to lookup the warranty then link over to parts.
