I recently purchased a T60P and have noticed that the computer "randomly" brings itself out of standby. This scenario only happens when the unit is running off from batteries.
I set up a custom power setting for both the battery and when AC power is applied.
For the battery I have the power management sent to turn off the monitor after 3 minutes, turn off the hard disk after 10 minutes, and go into standby after 30 minutes. The monitor turns of fine after 3 minutes. Then 7 minutes after the monitor turns off the monitor turns back on displaying my desktop just the way I left it. I have done nothing to wake the unit up.
Then when I got to use the machine I hit a button, it pauses for about 2 seconds, flashes a "blank" black screen for a second, and is then ready to go again.
I'm running XP Pro as my operating system.
I am really at a loss for what might be causing this. Any help/assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums!
Maybe the laptop is waking up due to network activity - switch of the wireless or plug out the LAN (if any) and check what happens.

Thank you for the warm welcome.
I was able to test both of the theories put forth. First I disconnected from both the wireless and wired connections. I ran the test and had the same results as listed above. I then turned off the wireless by the switch on the front left below my keyboard. After 10 minutes I was back to staring at my desktop.
I also went hunting in my device manager for the power management of my wireless card. I happen to have the Atheros A/B/G/N Wireless Lan Mini-PCI Express Adapter. It doesn't have the nice options like the Intel Card does for the power options. I only have Power Save Module and I have "Off" "Normal" and "Maximum" for options. I believe "Off" is what want. I was able to find and disable in my BIOS the "allow this device to bring the computer of standby".
After changing both of those settings I ran the test again. At three minutes the screen went off. And 7 minutes after that it came back on.
The timing of this strikes me as odd. At 10 minutes when the hard drive is supposed to turn off the screen comes back on. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. It shouldn't but something else I'll have to try and test out.
Thanks for taking the time to give me some suggestions.
