Error loading mssign32.dll . this is after an virus attack

dear all ,
this is my first message and i came across this forum after a desperate search.
i have got a T60 recently around 3 months back. there was no virus protection on this office laptop. there was a virus attach last month and our technical guy ran a avs and removed the virus. but while doing that, he had 'mistakenly' deleted mssign32.dll rather than cleaning it.
so each time i boot, i get mssign32.dll not found. from the avs, i have replaced the file the avs but still i get this error. i re-cheeked that the file is there in system32 folder.
my question is that should i run regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\MSSIGN32.dll to re-register the same.
what are the drawback of doing that.
is there a better way of resolving that issue.
i wish i had known this forum before as the suggestion given by somebody on this forum to backup the system the moment you get a laptop was very crucial info.
best regards
