Any good-sticking tape will do. If all else fails, even duct tape will do the trick.
Leave the old tape in place. Get a new piece of tape about twice as long as the original one.
Start the new piece at the bottom of the old tape, going on upwards and ending on the white plastic LCD backcover.
Don't press too hard on it!

I used transparent packing tape to hold the connector together. Applied over the top of the white tape.
But now the image is very weak. Barely readable, at first, then it gets very faint. All I can make out is that there is a light-colored message box,, but the intensity is so low it's impossible to read
I'm not sure what to do next. I don't have any decent debug ideas, so maybe I should just send it to Lenovo. It's out-of-warranty, though. But maybe that's the easiest.

For what Lenovo is likely to charge you for a fix, you could get another machine like that...maybe two...

Just to be sure: is the inverter connected properly? If the image is almost black, it could be that the backlight is not working.

LG Philips 15.4" 1680x1050 @T60p wide
LP154W02-TL06
still hoping there might be someone who can tell if a T61p WUXGA 1920x1200 will work with a T60p wide ... or if i need to edit the EDID or change the inverter or whatever

Would someone know of a reliable seller with stocked T61 SXGA+ panels?
I tried looking on ebay, but since most appear to advertise generic SXGA+ that would fit any 14.1' Thinkpad, and I've already got one bad experience, I've been growing wary.
My deceased panel is the Samsung one, oddly it carries a 42X4582 reference which I believe is a T61p one, while the manual's reference (my TP is a T61 8889) should be 42T0369 (and actually this reference seems to be present underneath the other one, which is carried by a small sticker superimposed on the larger factory Samsung sticker).

Update:
I started looking trough the Samsung reference: LTN141P4-L02. At first I got puzzled since apparently some correspond to the T3x and T4x series.
But I managed to find on alibaba.com some which would be of the same exact model, with the 42T0369 FRU of the T61.
Two different sales, by the same vendor: Yu Fan Electronic Co., Ltd.
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-gs/27 ... alers.html
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-gs/27 ... alers.html
Panel back pictures are 99% identical to the one I have.
Now, would you think it is a reliable enough source? Does anybody have an experience with this seller?

I have a T61 15.4" with the 1280x800 screen. I tried to buy a 1680x1050 replacement off ebay, but the seller sent me one from a T60. The metal bezel around the panel is different, and became visible when I tried to put it in my T61. I'm not sure if the same will happen going the opposite direction. Hope this helps.

thank you very much for your hint. though i still didn`t start the screen-panel-change project.
but at least I found out both 15.4 series, including the T61p`s WUXGA resolution model, have all the same inverter according the FRU no. in both Hardware Maintenance Manuals.
it is the Inverter card from Foxconn FRU 41W1338

I just bought this T60p from and Im getting some information in case I have to replace the screen. It has some dark spots/specks that look like dirt and is slightly yellow.
So I found this one on Ebay but Im wondering if this listing is accurate? Does this screen come in a Glossy version?
Also has anyone dealt with these people before?

That's a generic brand screen, and some of them are glossy. From what I've read in other threads, the generic ones don't work properly with thinkpads because of missing or invalid EDID data. Find all the genuine part numbers from the service manual and search ebay for those numbers. If it isn't listed as a genuine Lenovo part, I wouldn't buy it.

Thanks for that info. I was doing a search today and didnt see that for some reason.
Are you in the U.S.? If so did you have to pay any additional Custom charges?
Nevermind.......just saw you are in the UK

This person is now selling Grade A Stock: The HV150UX1-100 have 1 bright or dark dot but we tested that meet A grade screen standard (0,0,0 - 3,3,5) dead pixels quality .

Im just wondering if I would be safe buying it in this condition. I dont know if they will be selling the better quality later down the road.
I have sent Emails but get no reply.

Hmm, I wonder if their remaining stock as of NOW is stock that consists of minor defects ((0,0,0 - 3,3,5) dead/stuck pixels quality) and therefore have exhausted their previous Grade-A with NO defects or simply just come across a bad batch within their stock and as you state maybe
"selling the better quality later down the road" (?).
As for buying in this condition - It all depends on individual choice, some will live with this
minor defect, others may accept a panel if the 1 bright or dark pixel/dot is located on the coners/edges of the panel while others will not accept any defects at all etc.
I have contacted cgsplcd diectly last year on this email address:
joshchou@cgsp.com.tw - Responses were very quick/prompt.

Ok I wrote to him at the address you provided and will see what he tells me.
There were some people that bought the previous panels that werent supposed to have any dead pixels that ended having 2 bad pixels.
Im just concerned how many bad pixels would be on these panels.
UPDATE: Yes he did reply right away.
There are no more of the panels with "no dead pixels" left. The only ones left are with the "one bad pixel" that he is selling right now.
He seems to indicate it is hard to find these anymore so this is it. I bought one just in case.

Anyway just as a followup. I got the new panel within a week and it was packaged very well.
I just installed it today and it looks beautiful. Brighter than my old one and I cant see any defects that he mentioned the panel might have.
Im real happy with the whole transaction

There is a little trick to make an old T42/T43 panel to be a 60-series compatible: just a solder tiny eeprom chip to lcd connector and write valid EDID. Have a some T43 LP150E05 A2 panels without eeprom chip which not worked with T60, solder ATMEL AT24C04 eeprom, write EDID with Powerstrip and voila - works with T60

. Can make a photo if interesting.
PS: sorry for my English

I'm not skilled in soldering, so looks terrible, but it works
PS: on this panel needed contacts (DDC VCC, DDC CLOCK and DDC DATA) was not connected to anything, but some panels may be them grounded, so if you wants to solder a eeprom chip to them they must be disconnected from ground in some kind...

What LCD make/model did you use?
Does it have an IBM P/N or FRU?

Hi all
I am a bit confused.
The t60 in my sig., is it a t60 ot t60WS?
It is type 8743 and in the driver download it is listed in t60 WS
it is 15.4 in screen. Is it IPS or TN?
It really seems OK to me in term of brightness and colours, but if not IPS, how much better does it get?
Any options for a replacement screen for this one?
