Hangs dead

Well... Here it comes. My T60p just hangs dead after couple hours of usage. No system error, nothing in logs. Everything just freezes and stops responding. I have no idea how to debug this problem and what possibly can be done. I've done recently a windows security upgrade. Other than that - I have some strange particles behind
the screen. Looks like small washed-out black dots and some
larger object. I'm a bit dissapointed about both - the fact that
machine hangs and I have this [censored] behind the screen. Suggestions ?

Thanks. M

I must add that notebook is blowing some really hot air from
the left grill. Don't remember if that was the case before, but
it's hot and blowing all the time.

Is this the first time ever this laptop has frozen? Almost all computers I've used freeze every now and then, typically a few times a year. As long as it doesn't freeze way too frequently (like weekly), then it's nothing to worry about. Whenever it freezes, just press the power button for about ten seconds to force the machine to shut down.

Could be anything from faulty memory to bad motherboard. I am not familiar about those black particles you wrote about, dead pixels perhaps?

I only restart my home laptop once a week with no crash mostly if not ever, your problem is certainly odd. What's your system's temperature when it blows that lot of air?

It started freezing two days ago and now it's doing it.
I think I have a problem with temperature.
Here is what tpfancontrol reports

CPU 92c
APS 50C
PCM 48C
GPU 92c
....

Fan Speed 3734

92c ???? That seems like a lot to me! No ?

I would start by using one of the temperature measuring software tools and knowing how hot when it freezes. Not everyone is a fortunate as I, but my IBM laptop never freezes (except in one episode where the motherboard cracked and failed) and my IBM desktop never freezes. It being a T60, it may still be under warranty, so also explore with IBM service. ... JDH

For some people it may have little to do with luck, but instead it's due to how they use their computers. I run lots of programs in parallel, like to switch back and forth among them frequently, and type/click things very quickly. My computers sometimes just can't catch up with my nervous system.

Your system is in burning like hell. Things can burn at that temperature, make sure your gpu is getting enough heatsink, get it checked.

Yeah. I think there is a problem with fan. It's blowing air, but it seems much weaker than before. [censored]. And customer support was not all that great - it took me 40 minutes and three customer reps. to get the figures for normal temperature range for T60....
