Yes I do, but I do have to admit I've never even tried the widescreen ratio, so who knows... However, I primarily code with Cygwin windows (I'm an old-school Linux/Unix developer) and I need more vertical space to fit a sufficient number of lines-of-code. Even with the Eclipse and MS Visual C++ IDEs I have used, I feel like the extra vertical lines due to standard 4:3 ratio give me enough space to have code at top and console/output/debug windows at bottom. So for me, vertical space is paramount, but YMMV. I only use the laptop and do not use an external monitor/LCD.brrmax wrote:Ragtopgeek, So you prefer the 4:3 vs 16:10 aspect ratio for coding? I am looking for a laptop and will be coding in Eclipse using the LCD at times. Normally, it will be attached to an external monitor, but will definitely use it standalone.
Additionally, as a developer, I spend considerable time Googling development info, so the extra height means less scrolling due to the vertical nature of Web Pages. I rarely use spreadsheets, one of the supposed major benefits of widescreen.
