New Vista install - Switching to projector fails
Hi
Owner of a new Vista T60p widescreen here.
I got SO fed up with the bloatware, the delays, the crashes, the 80 tasks and the 1 GB used RAM at start that I bought a fresh Vista Business and re-installed from that!
FANTASTIC. Only 48 tasks and 600 MB used, and it is fast and tight!
Only ONE thing does not work: switching to projector (Fn+F7). I must be forgetting a driver. Which one?

are the other fn+keys workind (suspend, undock, batt...etc) if not it could be the hotkey driver, if it is only the lcd switch then I think it is the graphics driver

Hello Michael! Have question!
I too have a new T60P with Vista and it sure has a long, and I mean long, bootup. Did you install an OEM copy of Business? Did you have to download any separte drivers? I see Newegg has Vista Business OEM for around 140.00. I may decide to do the same thing. Thanks Bill
Hi!
a) BLUSH. Vista is so much better without Lenovo bloatware. It DOES work - onluy I first have to actually connect a second display! So ignore what I said - it's perfect.
b) Yes, with a clean Vista it is SOO much better. Vista recognised almost everything out of the box - after updates even the widescreen video! Also wifi, ethernet, sound, etc. I added only a few drivers from Lenovo - very simple since WiFi and ethernet were working so I just garbbed the few things (like the fingerprint app - not driver the app) and a few minor other things
Went from 80+ tasks running to under 50. Went from 1.1 GB RAM taken by "stuff" to 600 MB. Went from frequent crashes and hangs to none. And went from delays (eg in booting or in going to logon web pages) to no delays. Definitely worth the $380+tax I paid. That I should not have had to pay. But whatever!
Certainly recommended. Vista without Lenovo is better, much better. And a clean install is the only way to do it properly.
