Where's my bluetooth device?

#1 Post by khp » Mon Apr 16, 2007 11:35 am

I fear that Lenovo may have forgotten to install my built-in Bluetooth device. Could someone tell me what I should look for in the Device Manager to see if I do indeed have it or not? (I don't see a "Bluetooth device" or any device that has "bluetooth" in its name).

I'm sorry for the kindergarden question, but I'm not very tech savvy and telephone support's been bouncing me around and have had me on the phone for well over an hour, now.

Thanks for any and all help.

Hi khp and welcome to the forum,

the bluetooth may not be installed on a new machine, although it has it. Try pressing Fn + F5 and look to see if you can turn it on, the drivers will then be automatically installed.
Here's a previous thread on the subject:

When you hit Fn+F5 what wireless devices are displayed?

What's the model number of your Thinkpad?

Thanks to you both! Your advice did the trick. I think I was getting confused because I interpreted "Bluetooth Devices" to mean the laptop's BT rather than other BT-enabled devices that can communicate with my laptop. I'm still getting used to the fact that there are these Fn + Fxx functions that can be really helpful.

Also, I must have skipped over that linked post when I was trying so search for such a post.
