T61 Santa Rosa motherboard in T60 chassis...?

#1 Post by okashira » Mon Apr 23, 2007 2:55 pm

Let's speculate.

Given that the t61 will share a couple physical platforms with the t60 (14" 4:3 & 15.4" 16:10) What are the odds that a t61 mobo will be swappable into a t60 case?

I don't think it will work as the T61 probably will have an SD slot. Then you either have to cut out a SD entrance or remove the SD slot from the mobo.

wouldn't a new palm rest suffice?

Once they come out, we'll see. Why speculate?

How? Will you be attempting the swap ?
we either need someone doing that, or someone knowledgable enough about the t60 mobos to inspect a t61 mobo and see.

were the t42/t43 (pentium 4 / pentium M) mobos swappable?

No.... Santa Rosa has new cooling requirements, and the 61 chassis will most likely be changed to reflect that.

I believe so, not to mention with the R5x series as well.
