T60 odd bluescreen on resume from hibernation

Anyone know about this? Nearly every time I try to resume from suspend, the system blue screens with a small blue screen and the folowing text:

**** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check /Memory Parity Error
*** The system has halted ***

And it's not kidding - the system has definitely halted. PC is almost unchanged virgin build running Xp Pro SP2. No POST problems.

Any known problems I should be looking for?

Thanks
M

Hmm... very interesting, sorry for can't help you at this time, however thanks to you for raising this situation flag. When I go back home tonight I'll try to hibernate my t60 and see if there's any problem like mentioned. Make sure you update everything include Windows to ThinkVantage sw, drivers, ... , flash your BIOS to the latest firmware, etc. since these might help weird *unofficial situation.

This mostly/usually caused by hardware drivers and RAMs...

Did you upgrade/change/move your ram? My 1st 512 added stick gave me BSOD regularly, despite passing MemTest. If not, your RAM module or worst case, the slot on the motherboard, might be mal-func.

Good luck :)

I know how it feels when it comes to "anytype of Blue Screen" :( :D

Sorry - title on thread is wrong... there is no hibernation problem, just with suspend.

By 'suspend' you meant "standby" right? If so then I've not yet had that prob. so far.

Hi Globem - it's now NOT doing it... stopped about a week ago... about the time that I removed M$ Active Synch from the machine.... don't know if this is related or not. So right now I don't have this problem.

The other thing I've done is roll back the video drivers from ones that I think I'd got from the ATI site.

As far as I can see the video on my T60 is crap. Don't know if it's something funny about the corporate build I suffer, or if it's generic - but the ATI control panel ap doesn't work properly, and if I set a resolution greater than the physical screen, the display doesn't pan. I've raised these issues in a dedicated thread, but not had much help that's turned out to be useful. So waiting for the IT support guys at work to figure it out... could be waiting a while..

It might have been when I had the non-original video drivers that I had the crashes... not now sure, and I don't really want to re-install drivers that don't work any better than the ones I've got now- especially if they also make Suspend unstable.

Regards

Hello both of you. IBM has told me I needed to get a new switchboard as well when I came to this issue.

Unfornately it does not fix the problem, and without a fail if I have I have a video running on my pc, it crashes.

Hi Taka- can't help much... my problem's completely stopped. I'm suspicious of the video drivers. Got some new ones.... but from the ATI site I think.... what video have you got? Problem went away when either I rolled back the video drivers to the ones on the Lenovo site, or I removed M$ active synch.... .can't be sure which.

Best of luck.
