Try Before You Buy in the UK?

#1 Post by Dead1nside » Thu Apr 26, 2007 12:50 pm

Is there anyway or place to go view Thinkpads in the UK, that you know of? As these recent T61s look like something I'd have to hold in my hand before I'd be willing to shell out the money for it.

Thank-you in advance.

T61 are not out yet, however if you're talking about getting a feel and touch of a thinkpad before buying then it's possible to experience it in CircuitCity and BestBuy in almost all states.

But I am not sure whether you have these stores in UK or not.

Thanks for pointing that out, it's just that I don't think Thinkpads in the UK have much commercial penetration. I have only ever seen an R50 in Office World. We don't have Circuit City or BestBuy over here I'm afraid.

Thanks for your comments.

Surprisingly, at least one store down the Tottenham Court Road has a good selection of all the latest models (stickers in the window claim they are a Lenovo main dealer...). They had numerous T and X series machines in the window display - didn't go inside. The shop in question is near the TCR tube station, other side of the road from Sainsbury's, and North a bit (i.e. cross over at Sainsbury's, walk north in the direction of Warren street for a few yards and keep looking at the shop windows on your right!).

TCR is funny-- full of middle class suburbanite fathers who think they're being a bit 'dodgy' and getting a 'bargain' buying things which may have come off the back of a lorry. It's been a rip-off for years and I'd never buy anything on the TCR but if you can put up with the irritating sales people then it's probably the only place where you'll be able to have a look and feel at the latest Lenovo stuff.

Same opinion here. One of the stores at Tottenham Court Road has substantial amount of thinkpads on display. The staff, as mentioned before is another matter unfortunately.
