"Please connect the fingerprint reader"

#1 Post by botond » Sun Apr 29, 2007 12:24 pm

I have close lid set to "sleep". Whenever I open the lid recently, The fingerprint login says "please connect the fingerprint reader" and to make it work i have to click "change user". This is on Vista Ultimate, anyone else have this problem? Highly annoying.

All you need to do is just wait for about 3 seconds, that sometimes shows up when I come out of hibernation on my laptop.

Sometimes waiting a bit doesn't work either. I've seen evidence that some application has an exclusive lock on the fingerprint scanner, preventing everything else from using it. I don't know how to track down the process though, in Vista. :?

I had that happen after thte BIOS update (previous to last), thf fix was to reapply the registry patch for fingerprint reader. The patch is availabe on lenovo's support page

I have the same problem, it happens every once in a while when i resume from sleep, the only way to fix it is a restart, anyone knows how to avoid this? i have all the patches installed.

Another way to do it is to log off and then log back on. Its a little faster than a complete reboot
