"Advanced" Dock problems

#1 Post by noetus » Mon Apr 30, 2007 10:48 pm

- Can't find any PCMCIA slots. What? I thought the Dock is supposed to replicate the I/O on the machine. But no Cardbus. And I need a Cardbus slot. (No expresscard slot either.)

- there's no HDD activity light that I can see, when the laptop lid is closed. What? Did they run out of these in Japan when they were making this thing? Must be, like, a $0.02 part. Is Lenovo getting cheapskate on us?

- The PCI-e is x1. What? 16 times slower graphics card? Why?

- I can't resume when the laptop is suspended in the Dock, withuot physically opening the lid and pressing "Fn" key. What? On old Dock II you could push the power button on the Dock lightly and lappy would come to life. On "Advanced" Dock I push, and push again, and push again, and... you get the picture, nothing happens. Finally my machine restarts because I've been pushing so much.

- horrible, noisy fan. Amazing, it's so noisy. No wait, make that two fans. No wait, make that three, once you count the fan on the graphics card plugged in there.

Can anyone explain - why did Lenovo do all this? It makes no sense.
