Magnesium roll-cage & Sony batteries...?

... what does that mean if some of those famous Sony batteries decide to go "...poof"?
This just crossed my mind. Naturally Magnesium has quite a high exogenious thermic behavior when heated above a certain temperature point, which a runaway Sony pack can easily reach.
Wouldn't the end result not be some ultra bright white, intense fire work?
Any chemical engineers in this forum?

Uh, does that mean it burns as bright and hot as the sun ?

Well, afaik it's an alloy, so hopefully it wouldn't be that dramatic.
But otherwise yes, burning magnessium can cause temp/permanent retina damage

If you are worried about burning magnesium...
Take a look at some of the high end Vaios, they have an EXTERIOR magnesium shell.

Well, the VW has aluminum/Magnesium motor blocks. The largest part is aluminum and the part of the cylinders is hardened stell, of course. Aluminum is too soft.
On the other hand, Boeing equipped their B29 to B36 bombers with magnesium motor blocks. Quite a few ended up as huge christmass candles, when engines overheated.
AFAIK most Sony notebooks use Sanyo batteries, for some reason.
But I guess there has not been a laboratory test yet with a pure magnesium notebook frame and a "modern" Sony battery.
