so im going to be taking my thinkpad t60 to europe and the middle east on a business trip and the voltage where i am going is apparently 230 volts whereas here it is 110 or something like that.

A buddy of mine says that the computer is dual voltage and i can use it in those countries with nothing more than an adapter plug but some dude who works for ibm told me that i need a transformer to downgrade the voltage so that it does not damage my computer.

anyone here wanna tell me the real story?

All you need is a plug adapter. The voltage is fine.

(Typing this in the UK right now on my X31, plugged into a 220V mains outlet using a plug adapter only.)

thanks guys :-) I was just looking at the thread on shipping and wait times. WOW! what IS up with those ridiculous wait times? My co-worker in Toronto ordered a t60p from Lenovo Canada on May 3rd, they told him it would ship on May 7th, then on the 7th they told him it will ship on the 22nd. geeez.

Usually if a machine is pre-configured, it gets shipped within a week time period depending merely on warehouse stock position. Otherwise can take upto 4 weeks.
