I'd like to put a Atheros card from a T4X line into a T60 thinkpad. I'm not sure but does anyone know if the hardware is compatiable and will the machine accept it or beep until I take it out?
Thanks,
B

No, you cannot do that. T60 uses mini-PCIe standard for the wireless. The T4x used Mini PCI.

The Thinkpad 11a/b/g card for the T60 is Atheros, and costs like 40 bucks.

I've added the belkin pre n wireless to mine...to go along with a belkin pre n router. also got my gf the adapter for her HP lappy, we're getting speeds of over 500 kb/sec on downloads (if the website is capable of it).
to get speeds that fast, you MUST have BOTH the adapter+router. not just one.

NIN Fan,
I'm not sure what the belkin wifi and router has to do with my topic. I was looking to see if i could use an atheros card from a T42 machine in a T60 since the atheros IMHO has better connectivity with wifi locations.
thanks,

Agreed.. the T4x Atheros card will not work in T60. Mini PCI vs. Mini PCI-E. Just buy one directly for your T60. The Atheros card perform well.
