Blu-Ray T61?

#1 Post by dhbelair » Fri May 18, 2007 10:54 am

Any one with an idea when the T61 with the Blu-Ray burner will be released? Many thanks in advance for any insight. Thanks.

I've been eagerly anticipating the t61p or T61 with bluray myself, but there is conflicting information. It seems that there will definitely be an R61 with bluray, but the info on the T61 is a bit iffy. Some sites say yes the T61 will have that as an option also and others say negative... I think the reviewers said July for bluray to appear on the R61.
I am strongly leaning towards buying an external bluray burner at this time. Hey, maybe I can resell it on ebay and get the Lenovo drive later on...

Eagerly awaiting the T61p as a replacement for a very much abused but amazing T40 that is (sadly) dying.

didn't realize there was conflicting info... I thought the Lenovo release on the T61 said Blu-Ray would be a forthcoming option. Is it possible/likely that only be for the R61?

Really want a high-capacity burner for storage and safety - easy to pop a disk in a remote location (vs. back-up hard drive).

Also have slowly-dying laptop (Fujitsu) and would like to get to the next one before it goes.

Blu-Ray for the Ultrabay... I saw a SKU for a ultrabay module a little while back... Slimline Blu Ray drives already exist in Sony notebooks

I think the R only has/will have it as an option due to the fact it accepts 12mm drives, rather than the T accepting 9mm ones. I'm gonna take a wild guess a 9mm Blu-ray drive is still on the drawing boards.

Well, I guess not considering Sony. ;)
