Thinkpad T60 audio problem when installing XP using RIS

Hi guys,

I have this, very odd, problem when installing two T60 models with XPsp2 using Remote Installation Services in MS Server 2003.

One T60 model with a preinstalled Windows XP sp2,
One T60 model with a preinstalled Vista Business.

Both models are re-installed using a WinXPsp2 image, which has drivers included for all nessesary hardware - including newest audio driver.

Now, i know of the KB888111 hotfix, and this is slipstreamed into the WinXPsp2 RIS installation using cmdlines (KB888111 XPsp2 version ofcause).

Here's where it gets "funny": When installing the image on the two different types of laptops, audio works fine on the T60 which came pre-installed with WinXP, but it is disabled on the on T60 which came with Vista Business!

Ok - so i tried manually installing the audio driver on the machine, but the installation told me that the HDA audio driver was needed - even though the KB888111 hotfix already was installed on the machine (and showing in "Add/Remove programs").

Afterwards i tried removing audio drivers from the RIS installation and manually installing it after RIS'ing the machine, thus ensuring that KB888111 was installed prior to the audio driver, but same result.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what might be wrong here?

Regards,
David

I don't know if this would apply to your machine too, but you might want to try the link below...

Hi,

Unfortunantly, this doesn't help my situation. I'm allowed to install the driver package, but the driver isn't recognized and the audio device can't start.

Thanks anyway.
