Reasonable Price for T7600 CPU?

#1 Post by 2 Bricks Short » Tue May 22, 2007 8:33 am

What is a reasonable amount to pay for a T7600 CPU for my T60P? They are being auctioned off new and used anywhere between near $500 to over $700. The retailers are asking around $650 to over $700.

Is there a risk with buying a "used" cpu?

CPUs are solid state components. As long as it is working when you get it, and hasn't been overclocked (VERY unlikely for a laptop CPU), it should last longer than any other part of your laptop.

I wouldn't pay a penny over $500 for one off eBay. FYI.

I stopped bidding on a new one yesterday. It went for $480. I would have gone higher but I was not sure that doing over $500 would be wise.

No. I can't say that I am. Most of my work is done with Office 2007 software, which I like very much, and AutoCad. I do not believe that there is a technical need to change my cpu. I have, however, decided that when I can change the cpu at a reasonable price I will.
