T60p battery management - am I doing it right?

hello!

After I bought T60p I discharged and then recharged the battery completely 3 times. After that it was all ususal. When I'm on college I run it on battery, when it comes to 3-4 per cent I recharged it, and so on. I run "Max battery" scheme when I'm on battery and "Optimizied for AC" when I work on AC.
When I work at home, I REMOVE the battery, and work on AC only since I read that the biggest "battery life killer" is the heat and keeping it constatly at 100% is not good.
So, my question is am I doing things right? Any advice on battery management?

Yea, you could go to Thinkvantage and set it so that it stops charging it after 96%. That's what it had always been set to ever since Access Thinkpad was around. ;)

I'm sure the power settings are similar in Thinkvantage. There is also an option to have the app follow certain pattern (your battery usage or lack thereof), so it will more intelligently assess as to when to charge it.

with this option on, should I leave the battery in Thinkpad at all times (even when I'm working on AC the whole day)?

ok, sorry for the bump, but I need a straight answer.
I'm rarely go on the move with my T60p so when I work, I work at home with the laptop plugged in AC, with the battery removed.
The battery is stored at 40-50%.
When I go somewhere, I charge it to 95% and then when I'm finished with "mobile" work, I drain the battery to 40-50% and then store it again and work without the battery with AC.
Is this OK for the battery?
I think it's right because I'm not overheatin/overcharging(discharing).

any opinions, suggestions, etc.?

No straight answer, as I really don't think there is one. The saying "YMMV"is quite true on this issue. You might get a lot of pro and con, and I believe its' because there is no absolute "right" way.
I have never taken out the battery on any of the laptops I have owned and the T41P in my sig has been around the world a couple of times in the past 4 yrs. And is still over 70%...Just my personal experience..

I also set my battery to start chargeing at 90% and stop charging after 95%, but my battery will still be charged to 100%. Why??
