After installing WinXP on T61 (7659xnu), I found there are still 3 device unknown in "device manager". They are all "Basic system device". The spec of this T61 will be listed below.
T7300 (L2:4M)/1G DDR2/14 WXGA+/intel 82566MM/Thinkpad abg/DVD Super Multi 3/Thinkpad modem/SD reader/PCMCIA/i-Link/Bluetooth/5K120/intel X3100/Win VISTA Business
I've installed intel graphic and chipset drivers. All of the Lenovo's T61 new drivers and MS UAA were also installed.

didn't they ship your notebook with xp or vista installed already?
and did you install the intel matrix drivers? bcs that one is always a hard one to catch while installing xp ... one of the three could be that one... i had the same problem when i installed xp on my t60 ...

In fact, the T61 has no fingerprint module; therefore, I think it shouldn't have the TPM.
Maybe I should try it tomorrow.
Anyway, TKS!

How long did it take to receive your T61 from Lenovo? I ordered about 2 weeks ago and the ship date is still listed as May 30th.

Have you tried installing and running Lenovo's system update to see if it picks up anything? If not, I would try that.

when i had my driver issues i tried to install like that but it didn't work out there... i had to get the drivers by myself from lenovo and install... i think he should make a list of the components he has in his notebook and eliminate the ones which are installed already properly and install the missing ones... with winXP its weird, bcs the newer hardware has some issues during the installation process, probably bcs winxp isn't the youngest OS anymore and there wasn't any new releases which contains the new common drivers like vista does ...

TPM has more uses besides the fingerprint module. Vista's drive encryption, for example, requires TPM. The ThinkVantage Client Security Solution (CSS) also requires TPM, but doesn't require fingerprint module. You just have to type in your passwords, instead of scanning your fingertip.
So T61 is out in Taiwan?

Actually CSS can run in emulation mode..... And does not require a TPM to be on the system.
All current ThinkPads have TPM though.
