Lenovo's order page different for US and UK?

I am currently fishing for some information on the upcoming T61p (owns a T42p at the moment) and I was surprised to find out that the UK Lenovo's order page doesn't, unlike the US one, offer a Customise & Buy" option, just a "Buy" one. Now, I know that I can always customise my order, but it would still be nice to have that on the website: gives the potential buyer an idea of what is available. In my view that is very important to get people interested (at least it works for me!). So, have I looked in the wrong place or is it really the case that the US and UK Lenovo's order pages are different?

First of all, please update your profile so that we all can know where exactly you're from, U.K or US?

Secondly you've not browsed any wrong page, as far as I know only lenovo US allows you to customize your order.

Thirdly, if you reside in U.K you cannot order anything from lenovo US website and viceversa as well.

Done. Interestingly enough, one can update his/her profile without entering anything for the location, despite the fact that it is 'required'.

Doesn't make sense to me, but at least I won't be wasting my time checking the UK website anymore.

Unless one can provide a US address (and maybe also a US credit card?)?

Anyway, I am not interested in doing that. I just wish I could, from the UK website, have access to all the options that are offered with the upcoming T61p.

Yeh, we're all in the same boat over here agarny. We're reduced to ordering pre-configured options from Dabs and the like.

?? From DABS, sure, but you can still 'customise & buy' a ThinkPad here in the UK, just not from Lenovo's website...

the thinkpad price varies a lot from region to region. i am in uk now but i come from china. i brought the t60 in hongkong for about 900 pounds last year. and the same thing will cost me nearly as twice as much in china mainland.

US is still the best, not only the price but also you can customize it. the price in uk is much more expansive than us including vat. i have asked lenovo us and china that if i can order from other regions, and there answer was no way!!! there is nothing that we can do on it.

Contrary to what I implied in my previous message, you can customise and buy from DABS. I have just checked some of my old emails found a quotation from DABS for my customised T42p (which I am using to write this).

Mind you, I was in contact with someone from their "Manage Account Executive Education", so it might be different if you are to order 'privately'? Still, you have nothing to lose by checking with DABS (or another reseller). I tend to do that all the time, as I am rarely ok with the 'default' configuration... :)

Ok, I'll ask in future. I don't have business or education status, so I thought I was constrained to pre-built models.
