Odd file being written to the root drive

Hi all,

I just finished rebuilding my T60 from scratch instead of the IBM/Lenovo recovery CD set and I noticed an odd behavior.

Under my root windows installation, namely the c drive, a file named "TPHKLOCK.TXT" keeps on being created, consisting of "1 00FFFFF7" written over and over every time I boot up.

I did some research and found that TPHKLOCK, while some sites considered it to be spyware, others stated that it was the Thinkpad hotkey utility.

Does anyone know if this is normal? I do not remember seeing this. Also, reinstalling the latest hotkey utility didn't seem to help.

Thank you in advance!

That's a part of Thinkpad HotKey software.

However, if you think your computer is running fishy then run any good spyware and antivirus, if they find nothing you're safe.

Thank you for the response.

While I know that the filename is correlated to the hotkey application, I wanted to know if this is normal?

Thank you

Yes, there are various TP* files in the root folder.
