Hi there,
i've got two questions...

#1: i installed recently vista on my t60 and noticed that half of my harddrive is gone...i installed next to vista, office2007 and itunes(no songs on it) and googleearth next to the regular lenovo/ibm thinkpad tools, so it that normal???that this takes 40gb of my harddrive???

#2: well bcs i installed vista the installation removed my hidden partition and deleated the bluebutton rescue modus.. can someone help me to set up a similar point? that when i have to press that one (hope that never ever will happen,but its microsoft who knows...) that it will be restored like it is now...

i would really appreciate any ideas to solve my questions

1. That's normal since when you first set up your vista computer with drivers and software quite few system restore points will be made. Thus eating up free hdd space. As long as you have enough free space for your data i would not worry, since older restore points will be automatically deleted. When you want to manually free up your space run drive cleanup from start menu and select to delete all system restore points. Another option (and my favorite) is to install CrapCleaner and let it do it's job. http://www.ccleaner.com/

2. The hidden partition only hosts your factory preinstall. When you have installed vista, i don't think that you want to go back to your factory preinstall. I think you want the functionality from R&R back. You can download and install R&R with System Update. This brings back the ability to make backups of your system and enables the blue ThinkVantage button on boot with the pre boot diagnostic area.

thanks for the post and the info. actually i still have empty space left, but bcs of my study i didn't have time to swap some stuff on my notebook yet and when i wanted to do so, i was surprised to see that half of the harddrive was already full.. i mean just OS plus office= 35 GB was a bit shocking

i'll try that with the R&R.. bcs thats what i wanna, that when i have to restore that i just press that button and the restoration process starts that i'll be there where i made the last backUp again...
