Rescue and Recovery Goes Rogue

I work in an IS department and we recently deployed a bunch of T60s, and what we've seen is that R&R has been basically going crazy backing up everything constantly and using up every last bit of hard drive space to do it. We had one computer that was about 25% full of data and 75% full of backups. I also saw this happen to another T60 back at school. Is this a really common problem and serious design flaw? I've been reading this forum for a while and I've never seen anyone else mention it.

R&R will notify you when a backup would be made acording to the schedule. You should have a look in the R&R helpfile how to:
  • - Schedule Backups
    - Exclude files or folders which shoudn't be backuped
    - and last but not least set the max. amount of backup space
Also take a look at the R&R deployment guide here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-66930 and the R&R FAQs http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-66963.

It is automatically set to back up once a week from the factory. You can change the schedule in R&R to what you like, or, that it shouldn't automatically do it.

Thanks, I'll check those out. It still strikes me as poor design for the default settings to be to use all available disk space for backups. Many ThinkPad users are just corporate management types who don't know much about computers and can't be bothered to go managing backup software. That's what I've run into, anyway.
