How's the performance of the builit in camera? Can it be tilted to a different angle? Compared to Ultraport II, how's it? Thanks.

yeah, i can't find a T61 with a camera on resellers!
Any ideas when they are coming to stores?

And any lucky guy out there that has one, would he be kind enough to share his experience with it? Is it VGA or higher?

I m really want a webcam on my T61, it's so useful for teleconferencing since PIM's are becoming so popular among businesses

I don't know about the T61 but the R61 camera is in a fixed position centered in the top of the LCD screen bezel. You adjust the screen angle to move the camera. Kind of like the MacBook.
I would assume that the T60 is similar.

I saw one in T61 and it's exactly the same as R61's. Also I had owned a Z60m but have never seen any other Z-series (particularly Z61m and Z61t) notebook with an integrated camera so I cannot say if it's the same one.

However performace wise it lacks macbooks camera quality.

is there T61 with webcam available at a retailer that would post to Europe? Coz i m afraid in Greece they have available only non-camera T61's :(

My T61 has a camera and it works well exactly like the Lenovo 3000 N100 quality of the picture is very good.

I have Z61t with camera. The Z61t camera is VGA only but the quality is better than just about all other 1.3 megapixel cameras that I've seen...

Could you take some pictures with your webcam and post them?

Thanks, MCheiron[/list]

well i have a Z61t with a camera but the quality is just like any cheap VGA CMOS webcam (like old Logitechs).
If you have used any new 1.3 or > , it's no comparison.

I ll ask again, is a T61+camera available at retailers or just from lenovo.com ?

i would'nt worry about waiting for a T61 with a camera.

From what i've read, its just passable for business conferencing - but its probably last years tech...why not buy a good usb camera (they are light and portable)...

coz i need it for business conferencing.
It's a whole different "feeling" when you can see each other.
So it would be handy if i could just have it there when on the road or customers. I already carry an external 120GB WD Passport, external speakers (since the one's inside make me feel deaf), so carrying the camera too that would be annoying..

You are right Sokos. I agree with you as I really don't like the idea that I have to take out the webcam and mount it on the top of the laptop on the road with the annoying USB cable connected. But my issue here in Australia might be the same as you. As you know, Z6X series have in-bulit webcam models in US. But we rarely find few here. I guess the same will happen to T61 series too.

Now i am torn btween if I need to wait a while to see if the in-built webcam T61 will be availbale here or grasp the opp of getting the Lenovo USB/Analog Headset made by Sennheiser & USB WebCam VoIP Bundle for AUD$87.51-USD$73 before 30th June although I hate to use USB Webcam due to its inconnvenience.

I already have Ultraport II to be used in my old T23 and I am very pleased with its performance. But it can't be used on top of the laptop which is quite not convenient for conferencing.

I didn't choose it due to cost, but if I had a laptop with an integrated camera, I'd want a physical hardware-based switch to turn it off like wi-fi.

Call me paranoid, but when I want that camera off, I want to know it for sure. Same goes with the mic. Unfortunately, we don't get that option :(

Good point

"I have just outlawed the Soviet Union. We begin bombing in five minutes."
