T61's price drop is just a marketing trick! More expensive!!

Just want to let you guys know that the price drop as it *seems* on Lenovo website is not a true price drop. It's just a marketing trick. In fact, if you made a build on 5/22 or earlier, and compare with the same build now, the price actually gets higher!

Here is my build on 5/22:

ThinkPad T61 with Integrated Graphics - 1 Year Depot Warranty Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz 800MHz 4MBL2)[1]
Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic[12]
14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/ Camera[]
Intel GMA X3100 GM965 w/ 1394[]
1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)[]
UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad) with Fingerprint Reader[]
100GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm[4]
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim[5]
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ[10]
7 cell Li-Ion Battery[60]
7658: 1 Year Depot Warranty - Express[7]

$1,214.78

And now the EXACT same build becomes $1,268.25!

The reason why it seems lower is because the base build's ram becomes 512 MB instead of 1 GB ... and perhaps more. I did not find every small detail.

Besides, the parts actually are more expensive...

They ended the 25% off deal yesterday... What you are seeing is fathers day sale which is just a single dollar value off of the base system. The upgrades are now full price instead of 25% off.

The prices will probably be lower in july again than ever. Last summer some preconfig models of the X60 and X60s were slashed by over 50%. Because summer is dead slow for corporate sales. June is busy.

Well, the US prices are still pretty good and cheap when compared with european Thinkpad prices. For the money we have to pay in europe just for one Thinkpad, most people in the USA could buy nearly two Thinkpads.

Not sure thats correct. Placed my first order on the T61 on 5/14/2007 and total price was $1422.90, next day price dropped to $1338.08. Checked pricing again on 5/30/2007 and there was another price drop. Ended up canceling order and re-placing with faster processor plus built in camera and price was down to $1350. Now this is EPP but thats just a 15% of of whatever the sale price is and should reflect the same delta.
Currently Using a T43P upgraded to Vista
Also own a T42P

...just ordered a T61 though EPP

I see, perhaps I was seeing the Father's day sale. Sorry about the misunderstanding.
