I have been reading mixed reviews about the LCD Screen manufacturers - Samsung and LG on Thinkpads. I am wondering how we can identify the maker of the LCD screen. I checked in the Device Manager and also using couple of other utilities which identifies the System configuration and nowhere I could find the manufacturer of the LCD Screen. Every utility listed Monitor as "Thinkpad Display"

Look up your system by model and serial number, and find the part number for your LCD.
I'm trying to remember what to do from here. I think you just search for that part number afterwards to identify it, but nothing is coming up as a result for FRU or Mfg # for mine. I forget where you have to find it.
You can probably google the part number and get info.

After you look up for your part number as in the above post. Go to support for your model then choose part information. Then choose LCD and compare the part number you get with what they have to identify your LCD.

You can also use a diagnostic program like AIDA to find out.
