T60p overheating fix

#1 Post by Turboqueef » Sat Jun 02, 2007 5:39 pm

Good day,

I know there has been a lot of discussion regarding T60 fan noise and overheating. From the moment I started using my T60 I could not believe how warm it felt. When I started to use it in my STi to datalog 1/4 mile dragstrip runs I was not surprised when it would overheat to the point it shut down. The fan never made any noise, it just stayed at 3800RPM while the CPU warmed up to 90+ C.

I just found a fix thanks to a guy named Mark who posted it on his site. Mark was complaining that the on board fan controller in the T60 was to noisy and he posted a program that offered more control than the on board fan controller.

Anyway, I just installed the "fix" and and it worked great. True... my T60 now sounds like the turbocharger in my STi pumping out 25psi of boost but at least the thing does not overheat any more.

Here is a link to the fix... feel free to download it if you are experiencing the problem:

Thanks for your contribution.

But this has already been posted on this forum before, here.

O...whoops I missed that..

It seems that most folks are complaining about noisy fan... in my situation, the fan was not loud enough... the fix works for both conditions!

I have had the same problems with the fan running all the time. I installed the Fan Control program, it only had a mild effect. I found out that the Crapware Diskeeper program is what made my fan run so much more. I uninstalled it, did a defrag now my fan rarely runs....
