I don't think the T61 has an ATI option. Is that a T60?

I am right. It is ATI equipped. The machine part number is 646069M. I am in Australia. Sadly this one is gone for just one day on the web!

I guess it really depends what you want to use it for. I have the #1 option, and I like it. Al thou it seems that vista is giving me some grief right now. But the 14"widescreen is a very comfortable size, and the machine is quite light.

As for the #2, the 9 cell battery & the 15" screen will add a bit more weight. What ATI chipset is it? Other then that, I believe they are very similar computers.

And for #3, I believe the R-series come with a tv out of some sort, which the t-series don't. If that's important to you or not is up to you. And having 3 years vs. 1 year of warranty is a big deal in my opinion.

That's just my quick thoughts on the three.

Really appreciate it codwif and others. No1 dropped the price again for $40! It is weird that the sale is up to 20th June as our financial year end is 30th June here in Australia. People normally will get the laptop for salary sacrifice to get a great discount. If you have 30% tax rate, you can get 30% off the Laptop price! I was wondering if after 20th June up to 30th June there will be another big drop!?

Another question about this machine is it doesn't come with wireless n. Should I go for it or just wait until the new model with n comes out?

Here No1 price is $2099 including GST. Australian dollars for EPP. After all the tax is taken off, I will come with $1335.73 and will claim some deduction for the work related and income deriving expenses.

Should I wait?? I can get 30% off the accessories with the purchase of the laptop and then get another % off claiming the tax for that.

May I ask codwif about the use of T61? Do yo carry it often outside so you consider the 14" lighter and more convenient or just the personal preference? For me, my wife will use it at home all the time maybe share trading daily and I will use it to edit the video at night for our newborn. So any suggestion?

The use you describe in your subsequent message won't really gain any noticeable performance from 802.11n. In any case, if you need 802.11n later, you can always swap the wireless card at that time.

I just posted the question about the n card upgrading in another thread and it seems that it need a third antenna for N specially.

Well, I wanted a wide screen, and my wife takes it to work often, so smaller was a must. if you are mainly going to use it at home, and if you are considering video editing, go for the bigger screen. either that or get another bigger LCD monitor to hook up to it when you have it at home. Its nice to have the real estate when video editing.

Thanks mate and it really helps. Maybe I will wait until the new models come out gradually and hopefully I can get it by 30th June.
