Hello,

I have a Thinkpad T60 2623-KFU. I bought a Sitecom pcmcia firewire cardbus so that i can capture my video from my digital camcorder.

The firewire card gets detected perfectly. The camcorder as well. But as soon as i try to capture (using adobe premier pro 2.0) my whole system hard crashes. I can only reboot by pressing the power button until power down. I tried with different capture programs but all get the same error. As soon as i give the command to capture, the computer hard crashes.

After reading up on possible solutions to this problem, and trying them out to no avail, i tried out the sitecom pcmcia card with a dell D620 laptop and capturing went perfect! No crashes, works the way it should.

The pcmcia card i have is: http://www.sitecom.com/product.php?prod ... bgroupid=9

The Camcorder i have is: Panasonic NV-DS65

Should i buy a different firewire card? Or is there a different solution to my problem?

Are there any firewire cards that are known to work with the Thinkpad T60?

kind regards,

Menace

use the card in the cardbus port or ZV port. I think most of these laptops one is just normal and one is for stuff like that.

So try another port and see if that helps.

Would like to know too... Express cards tend to be more expensive though, from I see in the market. An express card CF Card reader is like S$90!!

They should come down in price, but not for awhile.

I have experimented with several pcmia cards. I admit I have tried most of the ones at Fry's. Some of the cards did cause my computer to freeze or turn off. For me, it was a power issue. I use a y chord and plug the second usb chord into my usb slot. I had the identical problem when using portable hard drives. Some of them required too much juice when plugged in without any adapter. iconnect is a very good brand for pcmia cards.
