Memory compatibility
Does anybody know if this memory is compatible with T60 (2613CTO)?
Kingston 1 GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz
Thanks

Stay away from Kingston. They have bad compatibility problem with Thinkpad. I am RMAing them at the moment because they cause frequent lockup and BSOD.

Do not cancel your order. Keep it if it works, you can always return in case it gives you any tough time.peahen wrote:Thanks. How about Kingston? because I just ordered one. If not, I have to cancel it.
Run http://www.memtest86.com/ on it on arrival.

I'm running Kingston RAM from Best Buy in my T60 with those specs. (Orginal 1 GB + 1 GB Kingston)
Jury is still out. I get the NMI Parity error BSOD about twice a week, only when awakening from sleep state, but I think this has something to do with the ATI x1400 or its drivers, not memory. Memory always passes its tests.

Having read so many complained against Kingston, I was really hesitant to install my newly bought 1G Kingston Value Ram from Frys.com (KVR667D2SO). Although I went ahead anyway last night just curious to see whether the freezes occur to me. Open my T60 and swapped the Samsung 512 out (there is another 1G Samsung), turn the computer back on, everything was normal ever since. So people having problems with memory upgrade are sure it's not because of the defective computer hardware instead of the memory compatibility?

Kingston uses various different chipsets for the KVR series, so YMMV. For me, I only use Kingston in both desktops and notebooks, and have never ran into any problems. These are what I've used recently:

Z61t: 2x512MB 667 Hynix
