brentpresley is selling some T7200's. I was thinking of getting one for the 4M cache, but I would go from 2.16GHz down to 2.0GHz. Has anyone every made this exact switch? Good, bad or neutral? Thanks.

clock for clock the core 2 duos are 15%faster than the core duos
but your core duo is faster.... it will be faster but not by a big margin.
if you do heavy multi tasking or vidoe encoding it would be a good upgrade. core 2 duo also enables 64bit os.
if you don't do any of the above, i don't think it's worth it.

I personally wouldn't do it even if I was doing video encoding. It's not like it's going to be twice as fast.

That extra 2 MB cache isn't going to do all that much for you. The big reason for such an upgrade would be to get a 64-bit OS. For example, the LAME MP3 encoder compiled for 64-bit is about 33% faster than the 32-bit one on the same processor (according to my tests). But if you don't have 64-bit encoding software (nevermind just the OS), you won't get a [censored] thing out of it. And if you're planning on installing Windows XP x64 Edition, good luck on finding the right drivers.
